This custom-built off-road tanker truck for drinking water transportation is special designed and developped for the daily operation in difficult terrain in oilfields and mines. Please note the enormous ground clearance of the truck of 61 cm (24 inch).
The off-road Mercedes-Benz drinking water tank truck is equipped with an additional fuel tank of 400 ltr. That provides a total range of more than 2000 km. 14.00 R 20 sand tires and the all-wheel-drive are providing very good grip in sandy and muddy areas. Totally 4 hose carriers (two on each side) containing flexible 3 inch hoses for water distribution. The medium drivers cabin comprise bed, air condition and for safety reason is a rotating beacon light on top of the cabin installed.
The sub-frame of the water tank superstructure is mounted to the truck chassis in a way to ensure equal load distribution. The elastic connection between the truck chassis and the sub-frame are providing a torsion-absorbing function. Substructure and sub frame are hot-dip galvanized to prevent rust and additional painted in the original truck chassis color.
Off-road drinking water tank truck with elliptical tank shape and capacity of 20 000 ltr. potable water in just one tank compartment. The tank is manufactured of high-grade Stainless Steel 1.4301, electrically welded throughout with accurately finished welding seams. The thickness of the walls is not less than 6 mm for the shell and 6 mm for dished bulkheads on both sides. Inside the water tank is an appropriate number of splash walls placed.
Open mesh walkway on the left-hand side of the manhole cover, with front mounted (drivers side) access ladder. Collapsible handrail made of aluminium, operated manually, fixed as safety barrier, according German UVV regulation along the dome-pan. Dome armatures: Dome cover NW 500 (man hole) and ventilation valve NW 80.
On drivers side, front of the drinking water tank, is a small platform installed with the hydraulic oil tank, the ladder (left) for climbing up the tank and the fire extinguisher in a solid and lockable box.
In front of the water tank, right hand side of the truck is the spare wheel placed. It can be handled manually with a small hoist. In front (right) of the picture you can see the air intake of the Mercedes-Benz Actros truck.
The self-priming potable water pump is installed at the vehicle's chassis, hydraulically driven by PTO of truck engine. The PTO can be operated pneumatically from the drivers cabin. The suction pipe is equipped with a suction filter. Suction and delivery connections are provided with hose coupling and cab. The same water pump supplys the water to the spray-bar of the truck.
